OVERVIEW
Pre & Post Surgical Recovery
Elevate Your Recovery with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Advanced Oxygen Therapy for Pre- & Post-Surgical Wellness
Your surgical journey doesn’t end when your procedure is complete. In fact, recovery is an essential part of the experience. Supporting your body’s natural healing processes can be an important part of your postoperative wellness plan.
At Scottsdale Hyperbaric Center, we offer physician-guided Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for individuals seeking an advanced, noninvasive wellness option before and after elective plastic and cosmetic surgery.
HBOT increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in your blood plasma. As a result, more oxygen becomes available to support biological processes involved in tissue repair and recovery.
Whether you’re preparing for a facelift, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast surgery, hair transplant or other surgical procedures, our personalized hyperbaric wellness programs are designed to complement your surgeon’s recovery recommendations.
Invest in Your Recovery. Support Your Body’s Natural Healing Potential.

Why Consider HBOT for Surgical Recovery?
The Science of Oxygen & Healing
Following surgery, your body begins a complex healing process that involves inflammation, tissue repair, collagen production, and cellular recovery.
Oxygen plays an essential role in these processes. However, swelling and changes in circulation can sometimes affect oxygen delivery to healing tissues.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves breathing supplemental oxygen inside a pressurized, medical-grade chamber. Under increased atmospheric pressure, additional oxygen dissolves into the bloodstream.
As a result, HBOT increases oxygen availability throughout the body and supports several biological processes involved in tissue healing.
Although research continues to explore its potential benefits, HBOT has not been proven to consistently accelerate recovery following uncomplicated elective cosmetic surgery.
Benefits of HBOT
Enhanced Tissue Oxygenation
HBOT increases oxygen availability in the bloodstream and tissues. Consequently, more oxygen becomes available for important cellular functions involved in tissue maintenance and repair.
Supports Natural Tissue Repair
Oxygen plays a critical role in collagen production and the activity of cells responsible for tissue repair. Additionally, these processes are essential components of the body’s natural wound-healing response.
Supports a Healthy Inflammatory Response
HBOT influences biological pathways associated with inflammation and tissue swelling. Therefore, researchers continue to investigate its potential role in postoperative recovery.
Promotes Blood Vessel Development
Hyperbaric oxygen can stimulate processes involved in angiogenesis, or the formation of new blood vessels. These processes help support tissue health and healing.
Supports Cellular Recovery
Increased oxygen availability supports normal cellular metabolism. In addition, oxygen plays an important role in the body’s natural tissue repair processes.

Before Surgery: Prepare for Your Recovery
A Proactive Approach to Surgical Wellness
Your body’s healing process begins after surgery. However, planning for your recovery can start well before your procedure.
Some patients explore HBOT before elective surgery as part of their overall wellness preparation.
By increasing oxygen availability to tissues, hyperbaric therapy produces physiological effects that may be relevant to tissue health and healing.
Additionally, our clinical team can coordinate with your surgeon to determine whether preoperative HBOT is appropriate for your individual needs.
Although preoperative HBOT is being explored for certain surgical applications, research has not established its effectiveness for routine cosmetic surgery preparation.
After Surgery: Support Your Natural Healing Process
Your Recovery Deserves Personalized Attention
The postoperative period is an important time for rest, healing, and following your surgeon’s recovery instructions.
During this time, your body works to repair surgical incisions, restore tissue function, and support the natural healing process.
HBOT increases oxygen availability to tissues. Therefore, some patients choose to explore it as an additional component of their postoperative wellness plan.
At Scottsdale Hyperbaric Center, we provide individualized treatment scheduling based on your surgical procedure, medical history, and surgeon’s recommendations.
Furthermore, our physician-guided approach helps ensure that your hyperbaric treatment plan considers your specific recovery needs.
Our goal is to complement your recovery experience with advanced oxygen therapy and personalized care.

HBOT for routine elective surgical recovery is an off-label application. Although research continues to explore its potential benefits, improvements in healing time, swelling, bruising, or cosmetic outcomes are not guaranteed.
All treatments require appropriate medical screening and a prescription. Additionally, patients should consult their surgeon before beginning preoperative or postoperative HBOT.
